Problems of refugees’ adaptation were discussed in Transcarpathia

On October 31, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Czech Republic in Ukraine, Ivan Pochuh together with Regional Representative of UNHCR in Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine, Oldrih Andrysek and head of State Migration Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region Igor Mykhailyshyn visited Temporary Holding Facility in Mukachevo.

In the course of the visit problems of refugees’ integration into Ukrainian society were discussed as well as adaptation of persons who are in the procedure of this status determination. It was mentioned that the job placement on legal basis is a key stone for these people’s self-sufficiency. Mutual cooperation has already been set on this issue between Head Administration of State Migration Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian region, regional Employment Centre, NEEKA – executive partner of UNHCR and enterprise “Flextronix – Mukachevo”.

Nowadays, 47 foreigners live at Mukachevo THF including 23 children, 3 of them are unaccompanied minors. Mainly, these were migrants from Somalia and Afghanistan. Since the beginning of the year, 106 foreigners appealed to subdivisions of Transcarpathian Migration Service with applications about recognition as refugees or person in need of subsidiary protection.
