In Transcarpathia eight Afghans tried to swim over the river Tysa to get to EU

Three men with women and children got to the river Tysa and wanted to try to cross the full-flowing river. The citizens were detained by Transcarpathian border guards.

It is the first case of attempt to cross the state border illegally in 2013.

It was informed by the chief of Transcarpathian Regional Department of State Border Service of Ukraine, Artur Gorobenko during the meeting with the governor of Transcarpathia, Aleksandr Ledyda.

At the checkpoint “Vilok” the first attempt of illegal cross of the state border was fixed this year. Border guards apprehended 8 citizens of Afghanistan – three men with women and children. They succeeded to get to the river, but the passage through the Tysa they would not probably survive.

It was managed to detain illegal migrants due to watchfulness of local resident – the man noticing the group of suspicious people informed border guards about it.
