On August 21-22, the representatives of UNHCR Dmitriy Blazhievskiy and Armen Edgaryan visited Transcarpathia.
Together with the staff of EU Representation in Ukraine, deputy assistant of Refugees and Foreigners Department Petro Synyavskyi, they analyzed the problem moments in the work with persons seeking asylum and needs of this category of people. The same subject was discussed in the course of the meeting with the representatives of UNHCR and chief of Head Department of State Migration Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian oblats Igor Mykhailyshyn, the chief in the work with foreigners and refugees of HDSMS Yuriy Markovskyi and director of TAC in the oblast Luka Fedurtsa.
The head of Migration Service Igor Mykhailyshyn has marked that lately definite steps are done in order to improve the state of people in need of international protection, in particular, in integration aspect. The regional “Plan of actions on integration of refugees and persons in need of subsidiary protection into Ukraine society for the period up to 2020” is directed upon the above mentioned problems.
There were also discussed the following problems: service rendering to asylum seekers concerning employment, legal assistance, attraction of qualified translators. UNHCR representatives announced about planned action as to renovation of TAC in Mukachevo and construction of hothouse complex here. EU will support financially the realization of the planned.
Nowadays, there are 44 persons receiving refugee status in Transcarpathia, 52 more are recognized as persons in need of subsidiary protection. Three asylum seekers are settled to third safe countries according to UNHCR programme.
Since the beginning of the year 158 foreigners submitted applications on protection to Migration Service.
