23 refuges from the east applied for asylum in Poland

In the course of the weekend, 23 citizens from the east of Ukraine applied for asylum in Poland. It was informed by State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Thus, during the weekend border guards of Mostytskyi Detachment registered 23 citizens of Ukraine, who were asking for refugee status in Poland in the check point “Shegeni’ (Ukrainian-Polish border).  These were 3 families with children, inhabitants of Kramatorsk, Luhansk, Donetsk and Antratsyt. The reasons of their departure from Ukraine, being mentioned by the parents, was the absence of sufficient conditions and safety in the region of their residence because of fighting actions. “The part of the citizens informs also about threats of revenge and pursuits from pro-Russian people” – it is marked by SBGS.

In total, due to dangerous situation aroused in Ukraine, Polish side accepted 299 persons from Ukraine, 1 citizen of Egypt and 6 citizens of Russia. As it was reported by State Border Guards Service, as to June 5 the flow of refugees was not registered at Ukrainian-Russian border.

However, during the border cross of Ukrainian-Russian border no Ukrainian citizens have expressed their wish to get refugee status in Russia.

Besides, as an example, altogether for May 2013 – 540 thousand persons left Ukraine to Russia, and 470 thousand citizens returned.

This year, a substantial decrease in number of left Ukrainian persons to Russia in May is recorder – 340 thousand. Herewith, 305 thousand Ukrainians crossed the border from Russia to Ukraine.
