 Department of State Motor Vehicle Inspectorate (SMVI) of Perechyn district received operative information about movement of the car Skoda Octavia with illegal migrants. During some hours inspectors of SMVI were stopping all the cars of this brand and only in the evening this very car was stopped.

The driver was alone in the car, he showed his documents to workers of SMVI and opened the boot where nothing suspicious was. But inspector looked once more inside the car where he suddenly noticed four adult men lying on the floor. As it was established they were citizens of Palestine. Having no documents they crossed illegally borders of some countries and intended to get to Europe.

The smuggler and detained illegal migrants were taken to Chop Border Detachment.

Three citizens of Nigeria were apprehended in Lviv by the officers of Border Service and police in the frames of activities against so-called student channel of illegal migration. Foreigners violated the rights on stay in Ukraine. Africans being of the age from 21 to 30 arrived for studies to the city of Kharkiv to one of the higher establishments from which they were sent down. After that they did not hurry up to leave the territory of our state and passed to illegal status.

At the present moment papers on administrative infringement are drawn up concerning the detainees. The further destiny of Nigerians will be decided by the court. It should be marked that attempts of illegal cross of our state with countries of European Union done by the foreigners who arrived to Ukraine were not single ones.

Two foreigners travelling with forged passports were apprehended in the airport “Boryspil”. Both violators posed as citizen of other states, especially a passenger checking in for the flight to Paris who showed a passport of the citizen of Romania for control. The officers of SBS established that pages with constituent data in the document were changed. After that violator confessed that he was 23-year-old Moldavian. According to his words, he bought this document from an unknown man because he wanted to be employed in France.

Another breaker made his way to Canada. Ukrainian border guards cleared out that passenger of the flight “Kyiv-Toronto” was not a citizen of Great Britain: traveler’s passport was forged. After revelation the man confessed that in reality he was 56-year-old citizen of Afghanistan. At the present moment Ukrainian law enforcement agents identify detained foreigners.

The foreigners in the age of 16 to 65 were hiding in a private house in Mukachevo having no any documents.

The border guards managed preliminary to establish that two of them were citizens of Pakistan, four persons from Afghanistan and the rest seven men were from Somalia. Our country fellow took care of them. At the present moment, law enforcement agents carry out investigation on how illegal migrants got to Ukraine and what persons participated in organization of channel.

It should be remarked that during the last time cases on detention of illegal migrants, especially citizens of Afghanistan and Somalia, became more often.

The similar situation in this very season arises every year, as foreigners try to be in time reaching the countries of European Union before the onset of cold weather.

The border guards of Chop BD detained four illegal migrants from Afghanistan, a child was among them (born in 2009) in the evening in the suburb of the town of Chop. The foreigners were transported by car by local resident who was hired as a taxi driver to take them to the Hungarian border. The foreigners did not have any documents except two migration cards issued by Kherson Migration Service. During the interview it was established that all of them arrived to Ukraine about two years ago on illegal basis. Migrants worked in Odessa market “Seventh kilometer” until their friend from Afghanistan proposed them to get to European Union. Accepting the offer, foreigners bought tickets to Kyiv and then to Chop, where they had to be met. There was nobody to meet them at the railway station. Thus, they decided to reach the border themselves. At the present moment detainees are at TDC in Chop BD. The smuggler is called to administrative account according to the Article 206 “Breach of order on dwelling, transport means assignment and assistance in rendering other services for the foreigners and persons without citizenship”, which foresees a fine in the sum of 50 – 100 non-taxable minimum incomes of the citizens.

During ten months of the year 2010, the workers of Border Agency detained 185 illegal migrants from Afghanistan. 104 out of them were apprehended at the order on Slovakia, and 24 persons – at Hungarian border.

Late in the evening policemen together with officers of Chop BD detained four illegal migrants from Somalia in the village of Novoselytsya, Perechyn district during the operation realization “Migrant”. One man and three under age persons did not have any documents permitting them to stay on the territory of Ukraine.

The similar case happened near the village of Zavosyno, V.Bereznyi district, Transcarpathian region. Five illegal migrants from Afghanistan were caught 300 m before the Ukrainian-Slovakian border.

All detainees were adult men. They were delivered to Chop Border Detachment.

Border guards detained two groups of illegal migrants from Africa and Asia in Transcarpathian region.

One kilometer and a half before the border on Slovakia border guards detected four Somali persons. In order to stop them the officers had to exercise arms and make two warning shots from the pistol. There was a pregnant woman among illegal migrants.

Another group of illegal migrants from Afghanistan was apprehended in an hour. Five Afghani persons were hiding in the suburb of the village Zavosyno, V.Bereznyi district.

Now the detainees are at Temporary Detention Centre of Chop Border Detachment. African pregnant woman is under constant control of a doctor.

A group of illegal migrants was apprehended by the border guards of Sumy Detachment. A man with specific African appearance was stopped by border patrol nearby international automobile post “Bachivsk”. Three young boys intended to get to the territory of Ukraine avoiding the check point. Detainees did not have any documents, however their nationality was established. They were citizens of Somalia. After apprehension, detainees were taken to a special premise of Border Detachment. The circumstances of law breaking are investigating.

Two Ukrainians taking four illegal migrants from Moldova were caught at about 10 p.m. by the border guards from Chop Border Detachment together with the officers of SSU and MOI. The car was stopped in the forest nearby the town of Perechyn 7 km before the Slovakian border. Moldavians did not have any documents neither did the local persons. However, the Ukrainians reported that they lived in a border region and just agreed to lift three men and a woman as fellow travelers. Participation of Ukrainians in smuggling illegal migrants is now under investigation of law enforcement agents, the foreign citizens are called to administrative account for intention to cross illegally the state border.

In the course of 10 months of the current year the officers of State Border Service called to account more than 6 000 citizens of Moldova for various delinquencies.

     Border detail of Odessa region apprehended a car some meters before the state border. The car making its way to Moldova was driven by 61-year-old Ukrainian man. The man drove three passengers – two citizens of Afghanistan (22 and 24 years old) and 34-year-old Ukrainian.

     Both foreigners had certificates on case consideration as to refugee status granting issued by Kharkiv MS. The Afghanis confessed that they were working in the market “7^th kilometer” and they decided to move because of a poor income. For the search of a better work they decided to go to Moldova and started to look for illegal way to cross the border.

     At the present moment border guards drew an administrative protocol as to a driver about order break rendering foreigners transport services, and another document was drawn as to illegal migrants concerning their attempt to cross the border illegally. A question is decides concerning the third passenger who is suspected in organization of smuggling.
