Illegal migrants from Georgia were apprehended in Uzhgorod 50 m before the state border

The officers of Chop BD detained two citizens if Georgia in the area of BS “Uzhgorod” who tried to get to Slovakia beyond the check point. In the morning of August 6 border detail noticed the movement of two unfamiliar persons who were moving towards the state border. Observing the strangers and passing information to border department a reaction group started and detained them50 m before the line of the state border – two men having no documents. The Georgian citizens intending to cross Ukrainian-Slovakian border aimed at employment in the countries of European Union. The detainees are arrested just in accordance with Article 204-1 Part 2 of CCU, namely: – Illegal cross or attempt to cross the state border of Ukraine illegally and are now in the temporary detention centre of Chop Border Detachment.

The future destiny of detainees will be decided by the court.

Afghanis were apprehended in Transcarpathia among whom there were under age children as well

The group of illegal migrants from Afghanistan was detained nearby Ukrainian-Slovakian border in Transcarpathia. After received information border guards of BS “Knyagynya” noticed four unknown persons with rucksacks moving towards the border in the suburb of the village Knyagynya. As it was established later, tourists were citizens of Afghanistan, 28-year-old with three children of the age 10-16 years old. They did not have any documents identifying them. According to the words of the woman she planned to cross the border of Ukraine to Slovakia together with her children aiming at finding better life for her and her children. at the present moment detainees are at temporary detention centre of Chop Border Detachment.

10 illegal migrants from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan were apprehended in Transcarpathia

Recently, the officers of Chop border detachment together with Security Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathia stopped the minibus to check in the suburb of the village Barvinok.  There were suspicious persons inside the car. As it was established later these were eight citizens of Afghanistan: three men and two women with three under age children of 8-9 years old, the youngest child was not even a year yet. Afghanis were moving towards the state border intending to get to the countries of European Union aiming at further trip and search of better destiny. At the present moment they are in TDC in Chop and will be kept until the establishment of circumstances of the infringement.

During some days border guards detected two suspicious persons while checking the train Kharkov-Uzhgorod in one of the coaches who were as if travelling to Uzhgorod. As it was established later, the “guests” were 40 (man) and 43-year old (woman) citizens of Uzbekistan. According to their words, they also intended to reach one of EU countries in order to get refugee status.

Border guards detained six illegal migrants near the very border of Transcarpathia

Six illegal migrants making their way to Slovakia were detained by the border guards of BS “Uzhgorod” in Transcarpathia. The group of trespassers moving to the border was noticed by border detail. The operative group sent to the place apprehended the travellers who did not reach the border100 m.  The seekers of better destiny were 2 men and 4 women – citizens of Moldova, Georgia and Southern Osetia. The detainees did not have any documents.

Recently, the border guards of the same department detected three more trespassers at the railway station of Uzhgorod. The residents (females) of Nigeria had student cards of one of educational establishments of Ternopol.

Less than 10% of detained illegal migrants by the border guards are immigrants from the countries of migration risk

In the first six months of the year 2011 the officers of State Border Service of Ukraine detected 3965 illegal migrants the number of which became sufficiently less in 2,7 times in comparison with the analogues period in 2010. This tendency marked during the last years says about efficiency of SBS work in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies and border services of the neighbouring countries.

The tendency as to the change of structures of illegal migration is also observed. More and more illegal migrants – citizens of CIS countries arrive. Nowadays, their part comprises almost 90% and only 9,4% detained illegal migrants are the immigrants from the countries of migration risk. In addition to that 549 illegal migrants were apprehended for illegal cross of the border which is 27% less.

The decrease in the number of rejects to potential illegal migrants is marked in the check point inUkraine. It says also about that organizers and illegal migrants know about difficulty to enter theterritoryofUkrainiangovernment and it is already impossible to do it as a security level in the check points is of high quality.

Caucasian organized a “corridor” through the border to his country fellows

On June 29,2011 a citizen of Caucasian Republic (DB 1976) was detained in Uzhgorod in the course of operative-searching action. It was established before that he organized illegal transportation of illegal migrants through the state border of Ukraine in April 2011. According to this fact a criminal case was instituted as to the signs of crime foreseen by Part 1 Article 332 CCU (illegal transportation of persons through the state border of Ukraine)

Border guards detained three illegal migrants from Bangladesh

The border guards of BS “Delovoe” of Mukachevo Detachment detained the car in which there were three citizens of Bangladesh and two Ukrainians. Two foreigners had passports for travelling abroad which were already invalid; the third person had not any documents. Bangladeshis explained that they intended to get to the countries of European Union. All of them lived in Kharkov. Two of them had jobs and the third one studied at different educational establishments of Ternopil and Kharkov. Their friend agreed them to help get to EU countries for a certain reward. Then the man came by car with two Ukrainians who had to take foreigners to Uzhgorod. The foreigners were apprehended, and residents of Odessa and Uzhgorod were called to administrative responsibility.

SSU of Transcarpathia unmasked the activity of criminal grouping

The workers of SSU in Transcarpathian region unmasked and stopped the activity of international organized criminal grouping who smuggled the citizens of Afghanistan to European countries.

On June 4, the SSU officers together with Chop border guards detained two citizens of Ukraine who intended to smuggle 4 citizens of Afghanistan(two adults and two children) through Ukrainian-Slovakian state border. The same day ASSU inspectors instituted a criminal case against criminals in accordance with Part 2 Article 332 of Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal transportation of persons through the state border of Ukraine committed as to preliminary deal by the group of persons).

On June 8, SSU officers apprehended four more citizens of Afghanistan in one of the houses of the village Dubrynychi, Perechyn district. As it was established illegal migrants were hidden temporarily by a local inhabitant in his own house. As to malefactor the inspectors of SSU instituted a criminal case in accordance with Part 2 Article 332 of Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On June 12, four more Afghanis were caught in Perechyn district. It was clarified that at first they were taken by car from Kyiv to Lvov, and then they were delivered to Transcarpathia.

In the result of joint actions with State Border Service the SSU workers detained 2 Afghanis in the private house in Zhytomyr who were planning to get to EU. The same day it was succeeded to find the traces of organizer of transnational channel of illegal smuggling of migrants. It was citizen of Afghanistan who had accomplice – citizen of Ukraine. Both criminals were arrested in Kyiv.

On June19, a criminal case was instituted against Afghani citizen and his accomplice in accordance with Part 3 Article 332 of Criminal Code of Ukraine. At the present moment the organizer of transnational channel of illegal smuggling of migrants is under arrest. The investigation goes on.

The residents of Transcarpathia took six Vietnamese through the border of Slovakia

Eight foreigners, one Ukrainian and six Vietnamese were detained by duty detail of Slovakian Border Police nearby Ukrainian border in the evening of June 20. As it was established later, the group in the head with resident of Transcarpathian region got to Slovakian territory beyond the check points. “At about 21:36 the camera of video surveillance fixed illegal cross of the state border of Slovakia. In the course of investigative actions of Department of Border Service the incident was taken under control by police forces Vyshe Nemetska and detained the group of trespassers400 mbefore the border” – it was reported by press-secretary of Administration of Border Police in Sobrance, Agnessa Kopernytska.

According to fact of trespass investigation will be carried out. Slovakian border police has already contacted the officers of SBSU.

Illegal migrants from Georgia “attack” the border of Transcarpathia from all sides

Only for the last days border guards of BS “Uzhgorod” and “Kamyanytsya” of Chop BD detained 11 illegal migrants fromGeorgia…

In the first case, district inspector of BS “Uzhgorod” noticed four unfamiliar persons of not Slavonic appearance during patrolling not far from the railway station of Uzhgorod. During the check of documents unknown persons presented their passports for travelling abroad – the documents of citizens ofGeorgia. During interview with law enforcement agents detainees could not explain the goal of their arrival. As it was established later according to the words of detainees, they confessed in their intention to cross Ukrainian-Slovakian border beyond the check point and continue their trip along the countries of Shengen zone.

In the second case, 4 citizens ofGeorgia moving towards the state border having no documents were detained by the border detail in the suburb of the village Sukhaya Guta.

Other three Georgian citizens were apprehended in the suburb of the village Kamyanytsya, two men and two women (two of them had passports for travelling abroad) confessed at once about their intention to cross the border. All mentioned above citizens were detained and called for responsibility in accordance with Articles 204 Part 2 of Code on Administrative Infringements for attempt to cross the state border ofUkraineillegally in the composition of group of persons.

At the present moment are in the short-term detention centre of Chop Border Detachment, the future destiny of the travellers will be decided by the court.
