State Border Service of Ukraine summed up the results of their work for the first half-year of 2011

…The system of keeping detained persons has been improved to a grate extent including international technical assistance. In the frames of implementation of Agreement on Readmission 223 persons were accepted in the course of 5 months, 138 out of them were citizens of Ukraine, 47 – migrants from CIS countries and 38 persons from other countries. However, 29 persons were handed over, namely citizens of Poland, Romania and Germany. For 5 months of the year 2011- 3262 illegal migrants were detected, 421 out of them were detained for illegal cross of the state border…

Two groups of illegal migrants immediately were apprehended in Kharkiv region

Two illegal migrants 38-year-old citizen of Georgia and 40-year-old Armenian were detained in the distance of 50 m before the border nearby the village of Gatysche. Foreigners arrived to the territory of Ukraine in the search of better life and intended to get to Russia where, according to their words, they could find better job. However, they did not have real documents for crossing Russian border legally. They were proposed help on this point by Ukrainian citizen. During the illegal cross of the border they all were arrested by the border guards.

Two other residents of Georgia accompanied by the citizen of Russia were detained by detail of BS “Dergachi” nearby the village Kozacha Lopan 10 m before the line of the state border. As it was established they could not legally get to the territory of Russia because of absence of visas. Thus, they decided to cross the state border behind the check point using the service of Russian man who was as if their friend.

Seven illegal migrants were detained from Somalia, Ghana and Georgia in Transcarpathian region

The officers of State Border Service of Ukraine detained 7 illegal migrants from Somalia, Ghana and Georgia. As border detail of “V.Bereznyi” reported two men and a woman were detained in the morning. They were citizens of Somalia having no documents identifying them. It was also established beforehand that Somali woman has already tried to cross the border in the year 2010. Now this information is checked.

In the afternoon of the same day border guards of Mostyskyi Detachment stopped two unfamiliar persons 400 m before the border. They were citizens of Republic of Ghana being of 20 and 27 years old. According to their words they were students of preparatory course of one of the medical universities of Ukraine. It was cleared out later on that these persons were not in the list of the students. Detainees explained that they found a map in the internet and examining it they decided to find the shortest way to get to Poland. This way is roundabout the check point “Shegeni”.

In the evening border guards of Chop Detachment of BS “Uzhgorod” apprehended two citizens of Georgia who were moving towards the countries of European Union.

Four trespassers were detained in the airport “Boryspil”

Border guards detained 27-year-old Egyptian. The man flied by the flight Abu-Dabi and presented for check his passport for travelling abroad of the citizen of Italy. However the officers of State Border Service noticed the document to be forged. The traveler explained that he bought this false document in order to get to the countries of European Union.

Forged residence documents were detected in Boryspil

In the airport “Boryspil” during the check in of passengers arriving from Istanbul border guards apprehended 33-year-old citizen of Nigeria. He presented for passport control his residence certificate for permanent residence in Ukraine. As the violator explained himself he received forged document during his previous stay in Ukraine from his friend paying for it 3 000 UAH. The future destiny of the trespasser will be decided by the court. During two weeks four more certificates of the same type were found in Kyiv – their owners were citizen of Georgia, Azerbaijan and two citizens of China. They intend to fly out of the country avoiding administrative responsibility as to Part 2 Article 203 of CC (violation of the terms of stay in Ukraine).

Travelers from Somalia and Afghanistan were apprehended at the border on Slovakia

Five men of African appearance were detained by the border guards of BS “Knyagynya” of Chop detachment. The trespassers were moving towards the border on Slovakia and did not reach just 100 meters. Detainees did not have any documents, however, as it was established later they were citizens of Somalia. The travelers of the age 16-19 years old being in the search of better destiny in the countries of European Union were stealing into Slovakia. At the present moment the persons participating in smuggling of illegal migrants are established.                               

Five more travelers, but this time from Afghanistan, were arrested at the petrol station in the suburb of the town of Uzhgorod. They were detected in the frames of operative-preventive programme “Prophylaxis” by the border guards together with SSU officers. Illegal migrants were transported by two citizens of Ivano-Frankivsk region by car.

Five Afghanis intended to brake through Uzhgorod to Slovakia by “Mercedes”

Border guards of BS “Knyagynya” of Chop BS detained 5 men of African appearance. The trespassers were moving towards the border on Slovakia and did not reach some 100 metres.  Detainees did not have any documents. It was established later on that they were citizens of Somalia. Travellers in the age of 16-19 years old in the search of better life in the countries of European Union were braking to Slovakia. The establishment of persons participating in the transportation of illegal migrants is now under the procedure.

Five more travellers from Afghanistan were detained at night at petrol station in the suburb of Uzhgorod.

In the frames of operative-preventive action “Prophylaxis” border guards together with SSU workers detected illegal migrants. They were transported by a resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region by car «Mercedes Vito»

Six illegal migrants running to Slovakia from Transcarpathia were detained

Police Administration of Border Control in the area of Sobrantce, Slovakia detained six refugees from Dagestan at once…There were four children with a man a woman. 31-year-odl man was returned to Ukraine (Transcarpathian region) in order of Readmission Agreement. Besides, he received a 5-year ban on entrance to Slovakia. 26-year-old woman with children (2, 4, 7, 8 years old) asked asylum and they were placed in the camp in Gumenom.

A car with Pakistanis without documents was apprehended in Transcarpathia

Transcarpathia goes on to attract foreign citizens as peculiar “buffer zone” on the way to countries of European Union. Some days ago, for example, policemen together with military men detected four suspected men with a peculiar Asian appearance in the centre of one Perechyn district.

As it was established, they arrived to Transcarpathian from far Afghanistan. They did not have any documents permitting them to stay on the territory of Ukraine. “Illegals” were moving towards the state border. They were detained by Chop border detail.

In Berehovo district a car was apprehended with Ukrainian citizens intending to smuggle five Pakistanis. The circumstances of this case are examined.

Illegal migrants were arrested nearby the border

Two citizens of Cameroon and one from Kenya were detected in the area of BS “Reni” by the border guards of Ismail Detachment together with officers of MOI. A taxi driver was also apprehended who brought foreigners on his own car to the city centre. 23-year-old citizen of Kenya, 24 and 29-year-old Cameroonians had documents, which were not completely corresponding to Ukrainian legislation. Detained citizens were delivered to border subdivision in order to establish the reasons of their stay in Ukraine and identify their personalities. Ukrainian man was released after taking corresponding explanations. At the present moment illegal migrants are detained until their case is considered in the court.
