Seven persons knocked together a gang on smuggling illegal migrants though the border

The Highest Specialized Court of Ukraine imprisoned the organizer of illegal transportation of persons through the state border of Ukraine and his assistant. In total, 7 Transcarpathians were involved in illegal activity.

The Highest Specialized Court of Ukraine left without any changes the sentence of Appeal Court of Transcarpathian region concerning two local residents, who in 2011 organized illegal cross of the state border of Ukraine to 9 citizens of Afghanistan. It was established that seven Transcarpathians participated in illegal activity, among which there was already for the present moment former border guarder and workers of State Traffic Police.

In the beginning of 2011, the malefactors met 9 illegal migrants nearby the village of Znyatsevo, Mukachevo region. The migrants were taken to temporary house, which was given by one of the accomplices. The men smuggled illegal migrants through the Ukrainian-Hungarian state border beyond the check point by small groups.

In the end of January 2011, near the village of Velyka Dobron, Uzhgorod region SSU staff detained two cars, in which there were 4 citizens of Ukraine and 5 citizens of Afghanistan. Then, the law enforcement agents disclosed other members of this unlawful activity. The investigation officers of SSU in Transcarpathian region commenced a criminal case against the malefactors according to Part 2 Article 332 (illegal transportation of persons through the state border of Ukraine done on preliminary agreement by the group of persons) of Crime Code of Ukraine.

In the beginning of 2012, Appeal Court of Transcarpathian oblast left without any changes the punishment appointed to five persons involved in this criminal case assigned by Uzhgorod Regional Court in the form of 3 years of imprisonment with established probation period from 1 to 3 years to each.. The Highest Specialized Court sentenced the organizer of illegal transportation of illegal migrants through the state border of Ukraine a punishment in the form of 3-year-imprisonment, and his assistant – 3 years and 1 month of confinement.

Since the beginning of the year a certain activation has been registered of citizens from Syria, who intend to cross illegally the state border of Ukraine

Lately, State Border Service of Ukraine has marked a certain increase in the number of intentions to cross the state border of Ukraine by the citizens of Syria. First of all, it is connected with escalation of social and political situation in the Nearest East and activation of migration processes. The majority of migrants uses Ukraine as transit territory and then, they try to get to EU countries. Herewith, the legal ways of entrance are used as well as migrants intend to cross the border beyond the check point.

Choosing the legal channels of entering Ukraine, Syrians travel directly through the check points on the basis of private invitations for studies at higher educational establishments of Ukraine, employment permissions or with tourist goal. However, as a rule, during the interview they cannot confirm the goal of their trip. Also, they use valid documents issued on someone’s constituent data and forged documents of the citizens of other countries, etc. using illegal channels, they make their way through the “green” area of the state border or hide in the vehicles.

For example, two illegal migrants from Syria were detained in Bukovyn in the check point “Porubne”. They were hiding in the truck in the load. The man and woman of 30 years old were the spouses. They reported that they intended to get to one of the countries of European Union aiming at improving their life conditions.

An interesting case happened also in the airport “Boryspil”. In the course of identity check of the passengers traveling to Frankfurt, border guards detected Pseudo German. It was established that document of the citizen of Germany was not valid as its forms were stolen an issued upon other constituent data. The man giving the forgery explained that he was the citizen of Syria. He intended to get illegally to Germany using illegal document for further employment. The “traveler” was returned to Istanbul, and forgery was confiscated. One more Syrian with a forgery was found in the airport of Kharkiv. He departed to Vienna and presented the passport of the citizen of Switzerland. The forgery was detected by the border guards immediately as there were no protective elements in the document. The man informed that he traveled to the countries of European Union to get there refugee status. Also he told that false document was made in Greece by unknown persons for gratuity.

Altogether, 17 Syrians were apprehended for illegal cross of the state border in January of the current year, and 8 persons were not passed in the check points (in 2013 – 43 citizens of Syria were detained for illegal cross of the state border and 34 persons were not admitted in the check points).

Border guards detained 3 illegal migrants at the “green” area of the border

Two citizens of Georgia trying to get to one of the countries of European Union were apprehended by the border guards of Chop Detachment. The men moving towards the state border was stopped by border detail for the check of the documents. During the interview the men reported that they had no identifying documents and introduced themselves as the citizens of Georgia. Soon, according to their explanations, it was learnt that they planned to cross the state border illegally and get to Hungary. Detainees confessed that they made their route using the Internet maps. So far, measures are taken to establish the personalities of the detainees.

One more “traveler”, 23-year-old migrants from Syria was detained the same day by the border guards of BS “Yablunivka” of Mukachevo Detachment. The man without documents was apprehended in the suburb of one of the populated areas. Detainee explained that unknown persons promised to assist in getting to Europe for some money. The circumstances of the infringement are verified.

More than 90 violators were detected by SBGS staff in the check points during the day

Border guards of Mukachevo Detachment detained a man and woman travelling through the border with a child. They had forged documents of the citizens of Ukraine. The “travelers” were leaving Ukraine through the check point “Vylok”. They presented the documents of the citizens of Ukraine for the passport verification in order to go abroad. However, border guards detected the signs of the forgery in the documents, because watermarks at all pages did not correspond to the selected signs. Besides, during the additional check, the present citizens provided also with the passports of the citizens of Ukraine. However, these documents were not good as well. Documents issued in different placed were signed by the same handwriting and were registered later that the passports of the citizens of Ukraine for travelling abroad, border guards established that one of the passport documents belonged to another person as to its number. Also the birth certificate was forged. The very violators soon introduced themselves as the citizens of Afghanistan. Now, the circumstances of the infringement and personalities of the travelers are established.

Three more trespassers were stopped in the airports of “Boryspil” and “Zhylyany”. Two citizens of Georgia intended to cross the border having forged signs of State Border Guard Service. They were handed to MOI staff.

The citizen of Senegal traveling through Ukraine from Dubai to Brussels had false permission to permanent reside in Greece. He was returned in a return direction.

In total, the number of non-admitted persons through the border was more than 90 during the day. The majority of them could not confirm the goal of their trip and had invalid documents, as well as they were not passed because of insufficient financial maintenance.

Border guards stopped 7 violators from Georgia, Somalia and Russia at the border

Four citizens of Georgia were not admitted to Ukraine by the border guards of Donetsk Detachment. Georgians arriving by the flight “Kutaisi-Donetsk” could not tell the goal of their trip during the identity check. Besides, the citizens did not confirm that they had sufficient financial provision to stay in the country. Thus, they will be returned to the country of departure.

One more violator, woman from Somalia, was apprehended by the border guards in the airport of Kyiv. The passenger travelled by transit through the airport “Boryspil” on someone’s document of the citizen of USA and intended to depart by the flight “Kyiv-Milan”.

In Luhansk oblast, the passenger of the regular bus “Donetsk-Rostov” made his way through the check point “Dovzhanskyi” without appropriate documents for crossing the border. It was found out that he had only USSR passport.

Russian detained by the border guards of Chop Detachment in Transcarpathia had no any documents at all. The man was stopped 100 before the responsible area of BS “Novoselytsya” at Ukrainian-Slovakian border.

Two smugglers are accused in Transcarpathia

Sentence of Uzhgorod Regional Municipal Court in Transcarpathian oblast came into force concerning two citizens of Ukraine, who were recognized as guilty assisting the organization of illegal transportation of persons through Ukrainian-Slovakian state border.

In the course of trial proceedings it was proved that 24-year-old resident of Lvov oblast, former border guard, agreed to help in illegal transportation of the natives of Afghanistan through the state border of Ukraine.

Their duties were to meet illegal migrants at defined place, accompany them to the state border and directly transport to Slovakia beyond the check point were their duties.

It was established that these citizens of Ukraine acted in a composition of the criminal grouping, which had been organized by before convicted 41-year-old inhabitant of Perechyn region for illegal transportation of persons through the state border.

Former deputy of one of Municipal Councils also participated in unlawful activity. On October 30, 2012, the car, in which the organizer transported the next group of illegal migrants, was detained by SSU officers nearby the village of Kamyanytsya, Uzhgorod region.

Subsequently, other persons involved in illegal activity were disclosed. The court found guilty both malefactors and sentenced them the punishment in the form of imprisonment for 5 years with probation period for the term of 2 years to each. The organizer and other members of the criminal grouping had been condemned before and have already served the sentence.

Number of illegal migrants in Czech Republic is increasing

As it was reported by director of Police of Foreigner’s Affairs, Milan Maier, the number of illegal migrants is increasing in CzechRepublic. In 2013 police detected 4135 persons having no necessary documents to stay in CzechRepublic.

In 2012, there were 500 persons less. Often, these are citizens of Ukraine, Russian Federation and Vietnam among the illegal migrants. According to data of Police, Czechia is a target country for the citizens of eastern-European countries. Immigrants from African countries use Czech Republic as transit way.

Two groups of illegal migrants from Afghanistan were detained in Kharkiv and Transcarpathia

Border guards of Kharkiv Detachment detained apprehended the group of illegal migrants from Afghanistan nearby Ukrainian-Russian border at night. While patrolling the border, law enforcement agents of BS “Dergachi” noticed unfamiliar persons. The travelers just crossing the border beyond the check point between Russian and Ukrainian villages were apprehended at once. During the interview, the detainees reported that they were citizens of Afghanistan, however, they did not have any identification documents.

Besides, the border guards of Chop Detachment detected one more group of illegal migrants from the same country in Transcarpathia in the evening. Four citizens of Afghanistan – 2 men and 2 women were stopped in the area of BS “Uzhgorod”.

So far, the verification measures are taken by the law enforcement agents as to the violators.

Syrian and Uzbek intended to cross the border with forged documents

The staff of SBGS detected the forged document in one of the passengers departing to Vienna in the airport of Kharkiv. The man presented the passport of Switzerland for the check. However, the forgery was noticed at once as there were no protective elements on it. Soon, the man informed that in reality he was 32-year-old Syrian and traveled to the countries of European Union to get refugee status there. Syrian also reported that the forged document was made in Greece by unknown man for а fee. Besides, the citizen of Jordan was detained in the airport assisting in purchase of tickets for the flight and he accompanied the detainee. So far, the Jordanian is handed to SSU staff in order to establish the circumstances of the infringement, and citizen of Syria – to MOI.

Also, border guards of Kharkiv Detachment apprehended the citizen of Uzbekistan in the check point “Kozacha Lopan”. The man arrived by the train “St. Petersburg – Simferopol” and had forged signs of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

In total, during the previous year, the staff of SBGS detected almost 1480 persons with forged signs of border department. Besides, in 2013 the law enforcement agents confiscated more than 14,7 thousand invalid documents, 430 – forged and 142 someone’s.

Violators with forged documents were detained in the airport “Boryspil”

During the check of the passengers’ documents travelling to Frankfurt, border guards detected the pseudo German in the airport “Boryspil”. Inspector of State Border Guard Service had doubts as to the belonging of the bearer’s travel document – the citizen of Germany. As it was established soon, the document was invalid as its forms were stolen and issued to other constituent data. The man presented the forgery explaining that he was the citizen of Syria. He intended to get illegally to Germany with invalid documents aiming at further employment. So far, the passenger arriving from Istanbul was returned by a return flight to the country of departure, and forged document was confiscated.

Besides, three Uzbeks and one citizen of Tadzhikistan intended to fly from Kyiv to Tashkent and Alma-Ata having forged signs of State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. The violators were handed to MOI staff in order to establish the details of the infringement.

Since the beginning of the year, more than 50 violators were detected, who intended to cross the border with forged signs of the Border Administration.
