African intending to get to Romania in illegal way was detained recently by the border guards of Mukachevo Detachment. The representatives of Public Formations informed about the appearance of foreign “traveler”. The border guards arrived immediately and organized operative and searching actions in a result of which indicated person was detained in the suburb of the village Khyzha. The man did not have any documents introducing himself to be the citizen of Cote d’Ivoir. While performing filtration actions, the border guards learned that the foreigner arrived to Ukraine in legal way. The man has lived in Ukraine for a certain time and soon decided to try an illegal trip to one of EU countries.

Border guards delivered detainee to Temporary detention Centre of Mukachevo Border Detachment. O far, measures are undertaken as to search of persons involved in unlawful activity. State Border service continues to realize activities focused on non-admission of illegal border cross in the frames of illegal migration counteraction.

As it was informed before, the border guards of Mostytskyi Detachment in cooperation with Operative Searching Border Department and officers of Department on Crime Combating connected with Human Trafficking of HD MOIU in Lviv region detained a group of illegal migrants from India who tried to enter the EU.
Unknown persons were detained in the village suburb of Butsiv Mostyska district, Lviv region, 100 meters before the state border. Six men aged 21 to 28 years old having documents of Indian citizens attempted to find the place, where border passes between Ukraine and Poland.
the citizens were apprehended in administrative order, the documents were prepared on administrative infringement committed by the group of people under Part 2 of Art. Of Administrative Infringement Code 204-1 “Illegal crossing or attempt to cross the state border of Ukraine in illegal way, committed group of people.

Border guards of BD “Luzhanka”, Mukachevo Detachment, detained five illegal immigrants attempting to sneak across the border on Hungary and subsequently enter the EU.
Receiving current information, border guards detained one of the “travelers” near the village of Dyyda, Beregovo district, at about 1 a.m.. The detainee had no any documents and reported to be  the citizen of Morocco.
Two more persons undocumented were apprehended by the border guards in the morning. While patrolling the border, officers noticed two travelers overcoming the barrage fence and trying to  cross the Ukrainian-Hungarian border in illegal way. At a distance of 150 meters before the state border, the border guards stopped the foreigners who introduced themselves as the citizens of Nepal.
Soon, reaction group arriving immediately to the place to implement operative – searching activities, in the suburb the village Astey, Berehovo district, arrested two men without documents. The detainees appeared to be the citizens of Egypt.
Currently, protocols on administrative violations are drafted and filtration measures are undertaken as to the foreigners aged between 24 and 44, who are delivered to the Department of Border Service “Luzhanka.” Action on determining persons involved in the illegal trip of migrants.

The European Union has launched the project “Support for Migration and Asylum Management in Ukraine” to foster migration management in the country in accordance with best international and European practices.

The European Union allocated EUR 27.2 million over the next three years. “This is the biggest ever EU project on Migration Management in one of the Eastern Partnership countries,” said H.E. Ambassador Hugues Mingarelli, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine….

In accordance with the statement, only for the year 2016 the citizenship of Ukraine was granted to  16866 persons, of them – 809 foreigners and stateless persons upon their applications were accepted as Ukrainian citizens under the President’s decrees.

In particular, 131 persons were recognized by the President’s decree as the citizens of Ukraine, among them one is from Russian, 97 – Syria, 75 – stateless persons (the citizenship of countries was not mentioned).

In 2016, accepted 64 citizens of Ukraine under the President’s decree were persons from Armenia, 61 – Afghanistan, 52 – Iran, 47 – Georgia, 43 – Moldavia, 31 – Lebanon, 30 – Uzbekistan.

26 person acquired Ukrainian citizenship in 2016 were from Armenia, 22 – Azerbaijan, by 13 – from Jordan and Pakistan, 12 – Belorussia, by 11 – from Palestine and Egypt.

Nine person obtained Ukrainian citizenship in 2016 were the citizens of Nigeria, eight from – Turkey, seven – Bangladesh, six – Turkmenistan, five – Vietnam, by four – Kazakhstan and Tunis, by three – India and Algeria, by two – Angola, Cameroon, Libya, Morocco, Sudan.

Also Ukrainian citizenship in 2016 was granted to the citizen of the USA, Germany, Israel, Greece, North Korea, Cuba, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Congo, Yemen and Tadzhikistan.

At dawn, the border detail of BD “Novi Troyany”, Ismail Detachment, apprehended three trespassers. The border guards detected the travelers at dark time, when they were getting through the border nearby the village of Dmytrivka, Bolgrad district, by means of thermal imager. In a result, reaction group started at the place and detained three “night travelers”. In the course of verification it was established that all three were the citizens of Moldova, the residents of one of Moldavian villages. The persons were called to administrative responsibility for the break of the state border.

Just opened Contact Centre “Zahon” at the border on Hungary has already given positive results in securing the general area of the state border. Only for a day, illegal migrants were detained due to operative exchange of information between border guards of Ukraine and Hungary through this Contact Centre. The trespassers were the citizens of Morocco. One of them was apprehended by the border guards of BD “Luzhanka”, Mukachevo Detachment at night together with the operative staff of the Department. The foreigner had residence certificate of Ukraine and, except his passport, one more document for another citizen of Morocco. The other fellow traveler fled in direction towards Hungarian border. Ukrainian border guards organized immediately this information exchange with Hungarian law enforcers and gathered reserves to protect direction. Soon, the Hungarian border guards detained the violator on their territory, who was detected due to received information in advance.

Note that close cooperation through the Contact Centre “Zahon” promotes operative coordination of joint actions.

Border guards of separate check point Boryspil Airport detected the family composed three persons, who attempted to get to one of the countries of European Union in illegal way. During the repeated verification of passengers’ documents, who travelled by a transit flight from Turkey, border guards doubted in validity of passport documents of three citizens of Canada. As a result, upon thorough verification it was established that foreigner’s documents for travelling abroad contained signs of forgery.

In the course of further checking measures it was clarified that they were the citizens of Afghanistan, and documents for travelling abroad of Canadian citizens they purchased in Dubai for $ 10 000. Also they reported that the next sum, $40 000, they had to pay upon arrival to Sweden. So far, the passport documents are confiscated, and foreign citizens were returned by a back flight.

Border guards of Chop Detachment stopped illegal cross of the state order by Moldavian citizen, who intended to reach Slovakia failing to undergo corresponding types of control.

During servicing border detail discovered a man intending to get beyond the check point unnoticed, behind the truck. The reaction group detained the violator and delivered him to the Border Department “Uzhgorod”. As it was established, detainee was the citizen of Moldova, he planned to get to the countries of European Union in illegal way aiming to be employed. After drawing up corresponding procedural documents and holding liable, the “traveler” was handed over to Temporary Detention Centre of Chop Border Detachment.

The whole group of migrants and their assistants were detained by law enforcers in Transcarpathia region servicing in the controlled border area close to Romania. The citizen of Sri Lanka Republic, resided in Chernihiv, was the key defendant in the case. He was apprehended at Kyiv railway station. When performing searching actions, there were found 90.5 ths. UAH and $305. As it was established by the investigators, these means were received by the man for smuggling three citizens from India to Hungary, arrived to Ukraine from Russia. To realize his plans, the foreigner entered into a criminal conspiracy with two residents of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Receiving from Indians $500 deposit, he handed illegal migrants over to its accomplices, who took them to the western border. all group of migrants and assistants were detained by the low enforcement bodies in Transcarpathian region in the controlled border area on Romania. the organizer of illegal business, upon court decision, was put to Chernihiv pre-trial detention center, his accomplices from Prykarpatttya were released on bail. Illegal migrants from India were placed to Detention Centre in Mukachevo Detention Centre. So far, the materials of criminal proceeding are in the court for decision making in regard with the defendant in the case and their bringing to responsibility as to Article 332 of Crime Code of Ukraine – illegal transportation of persons through the state border of Ukraine, which is stipulates for 3 to 5 years of imprisonment.

The citizen of Iraq attempting to cross the border using forged document was exposed in the Boryspil Airport. While registering the flight “Istanbul-Kyiv” the staff of State Border Guard Service revealed one passenger having forged passport of the citizen of Romani. In addition, in the course of filtration measures his valid passport of the citizen of Iraq was found in his baggage. The citizen was not passed over the border and returned by a back flight.
